2021 Frosty Bottom Long and Short Course

Race Day Schedule:

 

8:30-9:30 am Race-Day Bib Pickup Outside near Start and Finishing Archway.

9:55 am Calling WAVE 1 racers to start line. Start line at Kincaid is at the top of coastal trail under archway.

ATTENTION: NO Pre-Race Meeting. (25 racers per wave)

10:00 am WAVE 1: Long Course Frosty Race Start

10:10 am WAVE 2: Long Course Frosty Race Start

10:20 am WAVE 3: Long Course Frosty Race Start

Important Race Notes:

  • This Thursday 4:30-7pm, Jan 7th Bib Pickup at Chain Reaction Cycles.

  • Bib Numbers and Wave Start Times are based on Previous Year’s results. They will be assigned before bib pickup this Thursday.

  • There will be NO ACCESS to Kincaid Chalet Pre or Post Race. Please make accommodations as necessary to stay warm. Porta-Potties will be onsite.

  • Due to Covid-19, Frosty Bottom is completely Self Supported. Hand-offs from friend/family members is acceptable, yet always be conscientious of others nearby.

  • Face Mask Coverings must be worn before and during race start. Face coverings may be removed at bottom of coastal trail hill, well after race start.

  • Both (Long and Short) Courses are fully marked. Follow flags - always on your RIGHT. To view course details, please visit chainreactionalaska.com click in the top menu “Events - Frosty Bottom”

  • Use Caution. Long Course Frosty Racers should always be aware to stay alert on the outer hillside loop, Re: dog mushing trails on Tour of Anchorage trail. Dog Mushers always have the right of way – YOU must STOP!

  • Good Sportsmanship should go without saying… reminders: No Littering of gel wrappers, water bottles, etc. and Be respectful and polite with all other trail users.

  • If you choose to Not Finish the Race; Please Call Chain Reaction Cycles 907-336-0383 and notify them along with your name and bib number.

  • Reminder: There will be NO ACCESS to Kincaid Chalet. Please be prepared before, during, and after the event.

  • Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, No Awards Banquet. Awards available for Pick Up at Chain Reaction Cycles, 1148 Huffman Road, 99515

 

The Frosty Bottom running events — the marathon and half marathon — are canceled for 2021 due to the continuing severity of the COVID-19 pandemic. The race director looks forward to holding these events again in January 2022.

Frosty 2020 Results 

The Frosty Bottom is an annual winter endurance event held entirely on the multi-use trails through Anchorage.

Starting at the Kincaid Chalet on the west end of town, the Frosty Bottom follows the Coastal Trail and the Chester Creek Trail to the turn around at Goose Lake for the short course, or continue to the Tour of Anchorage Trail all the way to the Anchorage Hillside and back for the full course for a one of a kind urban fat bike racing experience.

Awards

Your Registration Fee gets you an entry to the Frosty Bottom Race on a fully marked course with supported aid stations, a beanie, and a pizza awards party.

Location- Chain Reaction Cycles- Jan. 9th 2021 at 5:30pm

Frosty Bottom Overall Awards will be presented to the first three male & female finishers of both races.

25 Mile Short Course and 43 Mile Full Frosty Bottom

Cash Prizes for the first three men & women in the Full Frosty Bottom $200 | $100 | $50

Winners must be present at award ceremony to receive the cash prize.

Age-class Awards will be given to the 1st placed riders, male and female, in each age class for the Full Frosty Bottom

Under 18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

On Site Registration and Bib Pickup is at Chain Reaction Cycles from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, January 7th
